What is Therapy?
It's an opportunity to take the time to figure out who you are and why you do the things you do. It's your personal space devoted just to getting to know who you
are at your core away from the demands of others.
So how does Therapy work?
I use the metaphor of building a tool box to describe
the actual process of therapy. It's not that you get
to discard the tools you have been using, it's that
you learn about and acquire new tools that will help
open up the choices you have at your disposal.
Often we hope and falsely believe that things will
change by simply doing the same thing over and over
again. Sadly, this is not the case -- the tool
itself needs to be adjusted.
What to expect in Therapy
As a client you get to talk about what's working but also what's not working for you in your life. Perhaps your depression has you feeling overwhelmed; your anxiety might have you withdrawing and feeling isolated. Maybe you struggle with low self-esteem and find yourself in unfulfilling relationships. Disordered eating might leave you feeling ashamed and sexual trauma might be making your intimate relationships challenging. I am here to collaborate with and guide you through this process so that you may gain relief from your symptoms and live the life you truly want and deserve.
